Germany’s biggest Jewish educational and cultural complex since the Holocaust is set to open in Berlin, five years after the groundbreaking. The Pears Jewish Campus by the city’s Chabad community will officially open on Sunday. The community’s 550 kindergarten, elementary and high school students who are currently spread in different buildings across the city will all move in when the new school year begins in late August. There will also be a movie theater and music studio, a library, a kosher deli and an indoor basketball court and gym. It can be turned into a lecture hall for up to 600 people or a reception venue for weddings and bar mitzvahs.
