NORTH ATTLEBORO — A South Attleboro new car deal ership has opened a used car annex on Route 1.
Cerrone Auto Annex, 130 East Washington St., is mark ing its grand opening this month. The annex has spaces for 60 cars.
Manager is Jim Cappalli, who has been with Cerrone since 1989. He was the general manager of the Cerrone Oldsmobile dealership on Jef ferson Boulevard in Warwick, R.I., before General Motors stopped making the cars and the dealership was closed.
At the Route 1 location in South Attleboro, Cerrone's new car dealership sells Cadillacs, Pontiacs, Buicks and GMC trucks.
Cappalli said the auto annex is an outlet for Cerrone to sell one-owner cars that were traded in as well as late model program, or rental, cars. The majority of cars for sale will probably be General Motors car, due to Cerrone having a GM dealership, he said.
Because of limited land at the South Attleboro location, Cappalli said many of the cars, now available at the North Attleboro lot, would have had to be sold at wholesale.
The Cerrone Auto Annex, on the site of a former used car dealer, is adjacent to Stop & Shop and in front of a mobile home park. Three people are employed at the auto annex.
With a second location, Cer rone has sites both north and south of the mall on Route 1.
